The legendary supersonic passenger aircraft "Concord" is preparing to return to the sky - in the already modernized version. Fly-Concorde Limited from the United States announced plans to restore the operation of aviation legends in 2026.
The new model will be able to fly at an altitude of more than 18,000 meters and deliver passengers from the United States to Europe in only 2 hours - almost three times faster than modern aircraft.
According to the developers, the updated Concord will store a corporate silhouette, but will be 50% lighter thanks to modern composite materials. In addition, the aircraft will work on more environmentally friendly aircraft fuel, which will reduce the emissions of harmful substances by 80%. One of the most important technological breakthroughs is the minimization of sound stroke when overcoming the sound barrier. The excessive noise was one of the reasons why the classic Concord was eventually decommissioned.
Concord supersonic aircraft was developed in the 1960s by a company from the United Kingdom and France. The first flight took place in 1969, and regular passenger flights began in 1976. The planes used British Airways and Air France. They flew at an altitude of more than 18 km at a speed of 2179 km/h, shortening the flight between Europe and the US to 3.5 hours. However, in 2003, Concord was removed from flights - because of its high cost, reducing demand, as well as a loud sound that accompanied each supersonic transition.
If Fly-Concorde Limited plans are implemented, then in a year we will see the legend of the sky again in a new form.
