Kremlin officials are making attempts to create an information environment to explain possible actions of Russia with the aim of destabilizing Moldova.
The message states that the Russian Federation is conducting information operations similar to those used before the invasion of Ukraine in 2014 and 2022, possibly to create the preconditions for justifying a possible future escalation of Russia against Moldova.
It is noted that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Serhii Lavrov responded to the question about the Transnistrian conflict by stating that the United States and the European Union control the government of Moldova.
The fact that Lavrov continues his propaganda actions indicates the wider efforts of the Kremlin in the information space.
Other Russian Foreign Ministry officials, including spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, have previously said that the Moldovan government is trying to economically "stifle" Transnistria, is obstructing a diplomatic settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, and is facing widespread domestic discontent with the Moldovan government's policies.
"The timing of a possible Russian hybrid operation in Moldova is unknown, but the Kremlin is creating informational prerequisites for a possible intervention in the near future," the analysts added.
