According to Reuters, China began to actively develop an alternative peace plan for Ukraine on the eve of the expected summit in Switzerland. The sources of the agency described this new Beijing tactics as a "thin boycott" of the Geneva format.
China intensified contacts with foreign officials - last month Special Representative of the China in Eurasian Affairs, Lee Huai visited Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and met with representatives of the Global South countries in their embassies in Beijing.
China does not criticize the Swiss summit openly, but tries to convince the governments that this conference will only lead to a delay in war, and they should support an alternative plan developed by the PRC with Brazil. The Chinese alternative involves the equal participation of Russia and Ukraine and the discussion of all peace initiatives.
It is probably that Beijing explains the reduction of the number of registered participants of the summit in Switzerland from 107 to 90.
