China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan officially started the construction of a new railway corridor, which will allow the cargo to bypass Russia. The President of Kyrgyzstan, the Sudyr Zhaparov at the solemn ceremony, stated that this project would be an important link in the so -called "south bridge" of the Eurasian continent and will open direct access to the markets of Western Asia and the Middle East.
The railway will run from the Chinese city of Kashgar in the Singzian-Uygur Autonomous District through Torugart, McMal and Jalal-Abad in Kyrgyzstan to Andizan in Uzbekistan. It is planned to integrate it with other Central Asian routes leading to the Caspian, Turkey and Europe.
According to Zhaparov, the new route will be a powerful tool for strengthening regional connections and diversification of transport routes, increasing the competitiveness of Central Asia as a key transit hub. The project will also promote economic growth and create new opportunities for trading in the region.
This project is important not only for participating countries, but also for Europe, which will receive an alternative route of transportation of goods from China. At the same time, the railroad corridor reduces the dependence on transit roads through Russia, which is relevant in the conditions of changes in the geopolitical situation.
