China and the US received two months for negotiations to resolve customs dispute

China and the United States have 60 days to resolve a dispute over 10% of US duties on the whole Chinese import within the World Trade Organization, without applying to WTO Arbitration. This was reported by the WTO press service.

China appealed to the WTO on February 5, inviting consultations with the United States regarding new tariffs for Chinese goods. In its request, China states that these additional duties do not meet the US obligations to the most assistance under international agreements.

Consultations allow you to discuss issues and find a peaceful decision without further arbitration. If after 60 days the parties do not reach consent, the plaintiff may require that the WTO arbitration commission intervenes in resolving the dispute.
