The Chinese army begins updating and creating a new military unit - information support forces. This initiative was announced by the China's leader, Jinping, as reported on the website of the China Government.
The new unit will be responsible for coordinating work in the field of cyber information systems. This was made possible by eliminating strategic support forces that were created nine years ago to manage cyberspace and political confrontation. Aerospace and cyber forces, which have previously obeyed this structure, will become independent and will operate in parallel with the information support forces.
China's leader emphasized that these changes are aimed at increasing the readiness of China's People's Liberation Army for future conflicts, including Taiwan. This reorganization has been the most significant in the Chinese army since 2015 and is in the context of increasing competition between China and the US for influence in the world, especially in cyberspace.
