Kyiv opened the Podilsky bridge for passenger cars

On December 1, 2024, traffic was opened in Kiev for cars and public transport through the Podilsky-Resurrection Bridge. This event was an important step in solving the transport problems of the capital and the end of the nearly 30-year-old epic of construction, which began in 1993.

According to the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko, the bridge connects the right bank of the capital with the Left Bank. The entrance from the right bank is made across the street of Naberezhno-Khreschatytska, and the departure-to Peter Vershigory Street. For the opposite direction, the entrance is organized from Peter Vershigory Street. Now four lanes have been opened for the movement: two in the direction of the right bank and two towards the left.

There are already several bus routes through the bridge, including # 110. Passengers have stops and work on tram stops and urban trains are completed nearby. However, the movement of trucks remains forbidden due to the need to complete a special congress for such transport.

The Podilsky-Resurrection Bridge was built with numerous difficulties, in particular due to lack of funding and corruption scandals. In 2021, law enforcement officers found theft of 150 million hryvnias during construction. And in August of that year, the prosecutor's office investigated losses of 4.5 million hryvnias, which could be caused by the KSCA transport infrastructure department.

For many years, the bridge has remained one of the most famous long buildings in the capital. Only recently the works were intensified, and on November 27, 2024 Vitaliy Klitschko announced the opening of the crossing for movement from December 1.

The Podilsky-Resurrection Bridge will greatly simplify the transport connection between the division and Troyeshchyna, connect several major highways of the city, and will also become an important element in the development of Kyiv infrastructure.

Despite the long -term construction process, the new crossing promises to be reliable and functional, helping to reduce congestion and improve the mobility of the locals. The final completion of the work is planned by the end of the year, and the passage for trucks will be possible after the necessary congresses are completed.
