The President of Latvia, Edgards Rinkevičs, expressed his support for the proposal of the Minister of Agriculture, Armand Krause, to discuss at the level of the European Union the issue of limiting the import of Russian grain.
This proposal is prompted by the consideration of new sanctions against Russia in light of the current situation in world politics.
The President of Latvia expressed his support for restricting the import of grain, provided that transit to third countries is preserved, so as not to limit the supply of food to the countries of the Global South.
The proposal comes amid discussions about a new package of sanctions against Russia being developed in the European Union.
