On April 17, the first telephone conversation was held between Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The conversation was reported by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the US Department of State.
According to the US side, Rubio conveyed Lavrov the same message that had previously received the Ukrainian delegation, as well as US allies during negotiations in Paris. It was said that President Donald Trump and the United States wanted to end the war, and also offer all parties to vision of prolonged peace.
"The positive perception of the US proposal in Paris shows that peace is possible if all parties seek to reach the agreement," the State Department stressed in his statement.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a conversation, Marco Rubio also informed Lavrov about the negotiations of the US delegation in Paris with representatives of Ukraine, France and several other European countries.
