Dmitry Lubinets, the Commissioner for Human Rada of the Verkhovna Rada, accused the head of the Russian delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) of manipulation during interviews with Russian propagandists. He reported this in his telegram channel, Ukrinform reports.
Lubinets noted that in an interview, the Chairman of the MCCH Delegation of Russia announced a visit to 3100 prisoners of war in Ukraine and Russia. However, he did not indicate how many of these visits belong to each of the countries, which, according to Lubin, is a conscious concealment of true information. "Almost all of these visits relate to Russian prisoners of war, which Ukraine holds, because our country is steadily complying with the requirements of the Geneva Conventions," Ombudsman said.
Lubinets reminded that during the last exchange of prisoners of war, which took place on July 17, Russian prisoners of war told the employees of the Ombudsman office that the ICRC delegations often visit their places of maintenance. "So often they do not remember who visited them," he added.
Ombudsman also emphasized that the ICCH representatives, during meetings with families of Ukrainian prisoners of war, often declare access to both the representatives of the organization “both parties”. "And they forget to add that it is the Russian side that systematically does not allow the ICRC employees to the maintenance of Ukrainian prisoners of defenders," Lubinets stressed.
Lubinets stressed that most Ukrainian prisoners of war, who returned from Russian captivity, did not see or communicate with ICCH representatives. He urged the ICCH to use truthful data and not mislead prisoners of war. "Show courage and perseverance in visiting Ukrainian prisoners of war," Ombudsman summed up.
