In a rapidly escalating situation in international politics, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America, Mike Johnson, expressed serious indignation at the actions of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and its prosecutor, Karim Khan.
He made an outspoken statement calling for the ICC to be punished for what he believed to be unjust actions in the context of Israel and its leaders.
“America must punish the ICC and put Karim Khan [the ICC prosecutor] in his place. If the ISS is allowed to threaten Israeli leaders, we know America will be next.
The reason we will never support the International Criminal Court is that it is a direct encroachment on our sovereignty.
We do not put any international body above American sovereignty, and neither does Israel.
Congress is considering all options right now. We have some very aggressive legislation that we are going to push forward as quickly as possible. This will lead to sanctions if the ICC goes ahead with its absurd arrest warrants."
