Macron is under "opposition fire" for the proposal to send troops to Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron met with leaders of major political parties to discuss the strengthening of Ukraine's support. But they actively criticized him for the possibility of sending the military to Ukraine, writes The New York Times.

Yes, Scrodan Bardell, who heads the very right of the National Association Party, criticized the President for being ready to support Ukraine "without restrictions" and "without red lines." He called this approach "irresponsible and extremely dangerous to peace around the world."

Other politicians were not convinced by the presidential arguments. The Secretary of the Communist Party of Fabien Roussel described the President's position as "ready for escalation" and "dangerous".

The Green Party leader Marin Todelier said that Macron had discovered "amateurism", took an anxious position, "to demonstrate his courage."

"It is now clear that on the eve of the elections to the European Parliament, which will take place in June, Ukraine will be a central issue for France, and the macron will try to present the extreme right and left as assistants of Russia," - writes The New York Times.
