Mark Rutte evaluated Turkey's role in peace talks regarding Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed his hope for a real chance to improve the situation in Ukraine in the coming weeks, in particular in the context of possible peace talks in Istanbul. According to him, the US and Turkey, as well as President Vladimir Zelensky, play an important role in this process.

Rutte noted the importance of Turkish participation in the organization of negotiations, emphasizing the importance of the Turkish defense industry for the Alliance. At the same time, he noted that active diplomatic work is currently underway around the possibility of peace initiatives. He mentioned separately the support of the United States, including President Donald Trump, who has already declared his willingness to join the negotiations.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced his planned meeting with the Turkish leader Recep Taiip Erdogan in Ankar, which will discuss further steps to ensure the peace process. In addition, Zelensky reported that the parties plan to go to Istanbul if Russian President Vladimir Putin also arrives.
