A large-scale accident in the Lviv region

On December 15, a large-scale road accident occurred in the Lviv region that claimed the lives of seven people. The tragedy happened on the Ternopil-Lviv-Rava-Ruska highway near the village of Chizhikov. The collision was attended by BMW car, a DAF motor and a Mercedes Sprinter minibus.

According to the police of the Lviv region, the 23-year-old BMW driver was the culprit of the accident. It was previously established that he violated the rules of the road by leaving the oncoming lane, where he crashed into the DAF truck. As a result, the road train lost its control and rammed the Mercedes Sprinter minibus, which housed passengers. Unfortunately, the blow was fatal for seven passengers of a minibus - they died on the spot. Among the victims: a 45-year-old truck driver, a 39-year-old Mercedes driver and his 23-year-old passenger who were injured in varying severity.

After the collision, the BMW driver left the scene. Subsequently, he was detained due to the prompt actions of law enforcement. Previous data show that the man was intoxicated. He was detained in the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, as well as the necessary examinations.

Criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic safety or operation of transport). This article provides imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, as well as a possible deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years. Investigators resolve the issue of retraining the crime because of the severity of the consequences. This tragedy is an next reminder of the danger of traffic violations. Only two weeks ago, a similar fatal accident with the participation of the BMW occurred in the Dnieper, which resulted in a child, and four people were injured.
