On May 14, the Italian police carried out an extensive operation against the influential Ndrangheta mafia clan, as a result of which more than 100 people were detained.
In total, 142 people came under suspicion, most of whom were detained, 20 people were placed under house arrest, and another 12 were ordered to live in a certain area.
The suspects were charged with, inter alia, ties to the mafia and criminal conspiracy to traffic drugs using mafia methods.
One of the detainees turned out to be an employee of the Italian financial police, who was suspended from his post.
This operation was another step in the fight against the mafia in Italy. We will remind that in February, the most wanted member of the mafia in the country was arrested, and also Brazil extradited to Italy the boss of the Ndrangheta mafia, Rocco Morabito.
Gaetano Angrisano, one of the hundred most wanted mobsters, was also among those arrested. He was detained while celebrating the birthday of his two-year-old son.
