The mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov, announced that the construction of the first underground school in a city for training of about 900 children in two shifts is planned to be completed by January 2024. Terekhov expressed his hope that the school could be opened in January of the coming year.
"We expect that in January we will already build a school," - said the mayor, quoting his press service of the Kharkiv City Council.
Terekhov explained that more than 2 thousand students are studying in the subway premises, which have been converted for children. He also noted that the demand for the subway as a place for training is large, but its capabilities are limited. Therefore, the construction of a new school underground has begun.
