Mercedes EQC is revoked because of the hazard of battery overheating

Mercedes-Benz in China has announced the recall of more than 13,000 EQC electric vehicles due to the detected problem with the battery management software, which can cause overheating and even battery.

The recall applies to 13 447 cars that were made between November 30, 2018 and September 17, 2022. About it reports the Chinese edition of CNEVPOST with reference to Beijing Benz-a joint venture Mercedes-Benz in China.

The reason for the recall was the vulnerability in the software control system of high -voltage battery. Under certain extreme conditions, the so -called "thermal acceleration" of the battery - a dangerous process, during which the battery temperature increases rapidly, which can lead to fire.

In order to avoid possible incidents, the company plans to update the battery management software on all affected cars. The updates will be carried out in official service centers. By that time, the carmaker recommends EQC owners to limit the battery to 80%to minimize the risk of overheating.

Mercedes EQC is the first brand electric car to be represented in the Chinese market in November 2019. However, since 2022, the owners in China began to report problems with the motor and other technical faults of this model.

This is the second case in the last three months, when Mercedes-Benz revokes electric vehicles in China because of the risks associated with batteries. The preliminary recall has affected another model, which further emphasizes the difficulties of operating the battery blocks in electric cars, even from leading automakers.
