Lloyda Austin, US Secretary of Defense, was hospitalized on February 11 in Washington, District of Columbia, because of "symptoms that indicate an urgent problem with the bladder", Pentagon Petagon Petagon Ryder said.
Ryder noted that 70-year-old Austin continues to perform his duties during treatment.
In addition, he reported that the Deputy Minister of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Committee of the Chiefs of Staff, as well as representatives of the White House and Congress were informed of this situation.
There is currently no information on how long the hospitalization of Austin will last. The US Department of Defense promises to provide further information about its condition in the near future.
Last month, Austin was criticized for not reporting his cancer and hospitalization in December and January, including Joe Biden President.
During a briefing, Austin apologized. On February 29, he plans to speak to Congress on this issue.
