German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius arrived in Kyiv to discuss with the Ukrainian government the issue of further military support in countering Russian aggression. This was reported by the German publication Welt .
"With this trip, I want to show that Germany actively supports Ukraine. This is a clear signal that we are acting together with our allies - the 'Big Five' and other NATO partners," Boris Pistorius emphasized.
The minister's visit is also intended to send a clear signal of support ahead of a possible change of administration in the US.
Before visiting Kyiv, Pistorius held talks in Warsaw with the defense ministers of Poland, France, Italy and other countries. The main topic of discussion was the further strengthening of Ukraine's defense capabilities.
According to Pistorius, Germany, together with its main European partners, seeks to strengthen support for the Ukrainian defense industry, which will allow Ukraine to quickly provide its troops with the necessary weapons.
"If there are resources and production capacity, Ukraine itself will be able to provide its troops with materials and weapons more effectively," the minister said during the discussions in Poland.
