According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the strategic mistake of Russian General Alexander Lapin left the border of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation with vulnerable, which became an opportunity for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces) to take advantage of the situation.
According to the report, a few months before the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces in the Kursk region, Lapin dissolved the Council for the Defense of the Region, which coordinated the actions of the military and special services. As a result, during the offensive of Ukraine, the Russians remained without a single control center, which led to internal chaos. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (Ministry of Internal Affairs), the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Ministry of Defense of Russia began to compete with each other for control of the situation, which only worsened the defense.
WSJ emphasizes that the failure of the Kurshchyna defense was also caused by a critical shortage of military in the region. Russia's military leadership was unable to respond promptly to the situation due to the lack of concerted actions between different agencies.
We will remind that in November 2022 Lapina was lifted from the post of commander of troops of the Central Military District after the reconciliation of territories in the northeast of Ukraine of the Armed Forces.
