Taiwan should strive for peaceful development of his relations with China, not hope for American weapons for his safety, said a representative of the Chinese defense department in Qian during a briefing, commenting on Taiwan's intentions to buy military equipment in the United States.
He expressed his indignation by the fact that the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan rests on the United States and tries to gain independence, turning the island into an armed arsenal. According to him, this path can lead to catastrophe and suffering.
A spokesman for the Chinese defense department emphasized that Taiwan's security should be based on a peaceful relationship with China, not on American weapons, which, in his opinion, is unreliable. He also emphasized the readiness of Chinese troops to resist Taiwan's attempts to declare independence.
Having marked Taiwan as a rebellious province, China intends to "reunite" with the mainland at any cost, including economic and diplomatic pressure, as well as the threat of military force. The United States and other countries, although officially recognized Taiwan's belonging to China, continue to develop trade, economic and military relations with the island, maintaining its political communication, but remain against the change of status quo in the Taiwanese Strait.
