The proposal for additional mobilization of half a million citizens to the Defense Forces of Ukraine is not the final decision, and the discussion of this issue is ongoing. According to Mikhail Podolyak, Advisor to the Presidential Office, the figures of 400-500 thousand are discussed at the level of the profile committee and among the military. The mobilization process is planned to be stretched for a year, and already received figures are not related to the number of losses of the Ukrainian army.
"The war is great, new crews need to be completed, if we want to carry out some demobilization, we also need to replace people," Podolyak explained. He added that more than 400,000 occupying military people are on the front lines, and they should be replaced in view of physical and psychological exhaustion.
The representative of the President's office stressed that the importance of this mobilization lies in the logistics provision of a great war, which has been going on for two years. Note that the figures would be discussed with the military and relevant committees, Podolyak urged them to perceive them with understanding and in the context of the need to continue operations against Russian aggression.
"People physically and psychologically cannot fight for so long. They need to be replaced somehow, they must be translated through the rotary mechanism, and it must be discussed," he emphasized.
The Presidential Office of Ukraine stated that they would carefully discuss all aspects of this proposal and make an informed and thoughtful decision on additional mobilization of citizens to support the country's defense forces.
