In February 2025, the mobilization of conscripts will continue in Ukraine, and this also applies to women. A law has recently been signed to amend military service concerning women.
According to the legislation of Ukraine, mobilization of women is possible only on the basis of voluntary consent. Women have the right to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine solely on a voluntary basis, and no forced call is provided. According to Kateryna Onishchenko's lawyer, many women have already gone to serve as volunteers, signing contracts, but the issue of compulsory mobilization is not worth it.
Women who want to serve in the army should be on military registration and undergo basic military training. After that, they will be considered conscripts. This is especially true for adult women with medical or pharmaceutical education, who should submit documents for accounting if they have no health problems. However, this does not mean that women will definitely be called to the army; Registration is carried out to ensure that the authorities have information about the number of potential workers in the key areas.
Women who meet health and age requirements can conclude a contract for military service. It is also possible to undergo basic training. At the same time, it is important to note that women who serve in the Armed Forces and become pregnant are entitled to dismissal for health or childcare.
