The Bonhams auction in the United Kingdom has sold an extremely valuable vintage motorcycle Brough Superior SS100 in 1925. The price of the lot was £ 276,000 ($ 367,500), which makes this bike a real collection rarity.
Brough Superior SS100 is one of the 12 preserved models of this brand, which increases its cost to supercar levels like Ferrari 296 GTB. Brough Superior, which existed from 1919 to 1940, produced only 3048 motorcycles for its entire existence. Due to such a limited number of units, these motorcycles have become extremely popular with collectors.
The motorcycle is equipped with a powerful 50-horsepower V2 981 cubic meters. cm, capable of developing speeds up to 160 km/h. This was the main reason why the SS100 model gained popularity among motorcyclists, because it was a real "racing bike" of her time. In particular, this particular instance was made to order by the Irish Randecher Bob Matthew, which made modifications that allowed the use of a motorcycle for race, such as increased benzobak. After successful performances in the race between 1925 and 1927, the motorcycle was transferred to normal road conditions. However, after the accident in 1939, the bike remained in a neglected state for almost 30 years, until in 1972 he got to the seller's family and was restored.
This instance of the Brough Superior SS100, although not the most expensive motorcycle in the world (some rations reach more than a million dollars), is still one of the most valuable classic fables that have been auction lately.
