Greece will continue to support Ukraine, but will not hand over F-16s out of concern for its own security. This was stated by Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis in an interview with Rzeczpospolita.
"I want to clarify that we will not transfer F-16 aircraft to Ukraine, despite the fact that this information appeared in the mass media. However, we remain in support of Ukraine," he stressed.
Mitsotakis recalled Greece's strong cultural and religious ties with Russia, but noted that the country opposes the Kremlin regime.
"We are obliged to support Ukraine, but at the same time we have to ensure our own security, especially in the conditions of geopolitical difficulties," added the Prime Minister.
He also refused to disclose details about the types of aid that Greece intends to provide to Ukraine.
