The mandatory evacuation of civilians from the region began on August 2, 2022. During this time, more than 1 million 221 thousand people managed to take out, including about 190.6 thousand - children, and 46.5 thousand people with disabilities. On May 7, Dmitry Petlin, Head of the Operational-Territorial Service, Communications, Alerting and Information of the Population of the Department of Civil Protection of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, announced this at an online briefing.
“The evacuation of people from dangerous regions is ongoing. We urge anyone who has not left the war zone yet to take the opportunity to go to safer places. It is not only about adults, but also about children who are risking life every day, ”Petlin stressed.
Despite the active evacuation campaign and support from the state, many residents of Donetsk region remain in their homes. The reasons are different: from the unwillingness to leave their home to fear of unknown and lack of resources for moving.
