More than 60% of the population was evacuated in Sumy region

In Sumy region, a large -scale evacuation of the population from border settlements is ongoing due to the growing threat from Russian shelling. More than 86,000 residents of 202 settlements are evacuated, most of whom are located near the border with Russia.

This was reported by the Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration Oleg Grigorov on the program "Public. Studio ”on Monday, May 19th.

According to him, more than 52 thousand people are now evacuated, which is more than 60% of the total number of evacuation. Last week, nearly 2400 people managed to export.

All evacuated are provided by transport, temporary housing, as well as humanitarian, psychological and financial assistance. People are displaced in safer regions and provided the most necessary.

Oleg Grigorov noted that it is a systematic work that is carried out in cooperation with volunteers, international partners and local authorities.

Due to the fighting in Sumy region, the situation with critical infrastructure is deteriorating. According to the administration, about 21 thousand subscribers remain without electricity, and more than 10 thousand without gas.

Russian troops regularly fire the border territories of Sumy region. In recent weeks, the number of attacks has increased, which has led to urgent export of the population from potentially dangerous areas.

Local authorities urge residents not to delay their evacuation and cooperate with rescue services.
