Garald V, an 86-year-old King of Norway, said he would not follow the example of Margret, Queen of Denmark, and would not reject the throne throughout his life.
While visiting a press club in Oslo, he was asked about the actions of Queen Margret, who unexpectedly announced the renunciation of the throne in a New Year's speech.
He confirmed that the decision of the Queen of the neighboring country had no influence on his own decision.
"I remain faithful to my words: I oath before Parliament Storming, and this promise will be with me until my death," said King Norway.
Garald V, King of Norway, does not intend to resign, especially given the example of his grandfather and father, who also performed their duties until the end. Despite his age and health problems, he continues to perform the ceremonial responsibilities of the Head of Norway. It is worth noting that King Garald's power is limited and has no political influence.
The heir of the Norwegian royal throne is his son, Crown Prince Hocon, 50 years.
Recently, a similar situation happened in Denmark, when Queen Margreti II renounced the throne after 52 years of reign, and King Frederick H. was on the throne. It was the first such appeal in the country over the last 900 years.
