NATO plans to create a new cyber Center in its military headquarters in Monc, Belgium. This was announced by the Deputy Assistant Secretary General of NATO innovations, hybrid technologies and cybersecurity James Puppaturai during a cybersecurity conference.
The new center will have a working name integrated NATO Cyber Center (NICC), and its creation corresponds to a change in the Alliance's strategic concept.
Puppaturai emphasized that cyberspace is now constantly concerned, not just during a crisis or conflict. NATO is obliged to constantly monitor opponents on computer networks.
NICC will provide NATO with 24 -hour information on incidents that may affect military operations in Europe.
"For example, if a port in Europe is exposed to a long cyberattack for the purpose of blocking the gateways, we can have ships passing through these gateways.
It is noted that officials in the United States warn of the seriousness of the threat of cyberattacks for ports.
