Russia's ambitions are not limited to aggression against Ukraine and pose a real threat to allies through the North Atlantic Alliance. This statement was made by the Commander -in -Chief of the United NATO Armed Forces in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli on January 21.
The general stressed that there are at least three components that confirm this threat. "The first is to listen to the Russian Government. They already ordered very special threats to other states, including NATO allies. They speak of dissatisfaction with the world order and their desire to replace NATO, what we view as a very important component Cavoli.
He also pointed to Russia's decision to increase its army and create new military structures at the borders with NATO countries. These actions are aimed, in particular, against Finland and the Baltic countries.
"They carry out demonstrative actions to show that it is not only a country that has partially occupied the territory of Ukraine, but also the one that provides sabotage campaigns and other hybrid and destabilizing actions throughout Europe. I believe that Russia's intentions are not limited to conflict with Ukraine."
The General also noted that NATO is preparing for possible challenges, and there were some structural transformations in the Alliance.
"NATO allies now have detailed defense plans for decades. This makes it possible to determine the necessary resources to ensure these collective defense plans," he said.
