Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orban in the Newsweek column expressed serious outrage about the current state of NATO, indicating that the Alliance is approaching a turning point when the "desire for war" instead of protection and peace is the main priority.
He refers to "News about the preparation for a possible NATO operation in Ukraine, and even a high-level report that NATO member troops are already near the Ukrainian Front."
According to him, "more and more votes in NATO are talking about the need - or even the inevitability - military confrontation with other world geopolitical centers of force."
“This perception of the inevitable confrontation functions as a self -fulfilling prophecy. The more NATO leaders believe in the inevitability of the conflict, the greater their role in lighting it, ”says Orban.
According to him, the Alliance must remain a defensive union, otherwise it will "commit suicide."
