In Germany, the small town of Eisenchuttenstadad, located about 95 km from Berlin, has found a non -standard way to attract new residents. The municipality launches a free test residence program, which will last two weeks - from September 6 to September 2025.
The project called "Plan now" is focused on skilled workers and self -employed people who are considering moving and changing their lifestyle. Under the terms of the program, participants will live in fully furnished apartments for free. Applications are accepted by early July.
According to CNN Travel, the city also organizes excursions, meetings with locals and cultural measures, so that potential new residents can better feel the atmosphere and the rhythm of life of Eisenchyuuttenstadad. The city has a unique history: Eisenkhuttenstadt (translated - "City of Steel Factories") was founded in 1950 under the name of Stalinstadt, as an exemplary socialist city around a powerful metallurgical plant. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the city was named, but the industrial heart remained unchanged.
Currently, one of the largest steel plants in Eastern Germany is working here, which provides about 2500 people. At the same time, the total population of the city is only 24 thousand people - so local authorities are trying to attract new residents to give the city a new impulse.
