The German government gradually relieves restrictions on the use of German weapons against Russian goals by Ukrainian forces.
On May 28, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that Ukraine can use German weapons "within the framework of international law" without providing additional details.
He also noted that he believed "strange when some people claim that Ukrainians are not allowed to defend and take appropriate measures."
The next day, after clear statements from other countries that support the use of their weapons to strikes for Russian purposes, Berlin explained the words of Scholz.
Chancellor Steffen Gebestrywit said that "Ukraine's defense actions are not limited to its own territory and can be expanded to the aggressor territory." He also stressed that accurate arrangements with Kiev to use German weapons remain confidential.
The anonymous source, familiar with the position of the German government, confirmed that Scholz supports the permission to use Western weapons against purposes within Russia without resorting to details.
