On June 25, the Norwegian government signed an agreement on the beginning of grain accumulation, stating that the Covid-19 pandemic, the war in Europe and climate change determined such a need.
After a full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, Norway created a commission to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of its readiness systems for emergency situations, which recommended to renew the reserves of grain products.
The Storage Agreement of 30 thousand tons of grain was signed by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Gaer Pollestad and four private companies. In addition, the Norwegian authorities plan to continue increasing the grain reserve by 2029 to reach about 82.5 thousand tons of grain.
"We had enough grain for three months of consumption to the Norway population in a crisis that may arise," Polesstad said.
Norway population is 5.6 million.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Norway has stated that the creation of a reserve stock of food grain is part of the readiness for emergencies.
Earlier, the Kingdom government created similar reserves in the 1950s, but the initiative was canceled in 2003.
Now the state plans to allocate about $ 6 million a year to replenish granaries.
It should be noted earlier in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation that the North Atlantic Alliance is preparing for a potential war with Russia.
