Norway has announced the allocation of an additional 1.2 billion Norwegian crowns (over $ 106 million) to strengthen Ukraine's air defense. This decision was made by the government of the country as part of Ukraine's support in the fight against Russia's aggression. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Norway.
Air defense is critical for Ukraine because it provides protection not only of military objects but also of civil infrastructure and civilian population. In 2024, Norway has already provided more than 6 billion kroons to Ukraine to Ukraine, and now increases its contribution, allocating another 1.2 billion crowns.
Norway Defense Minister Tore O. Sandwick noted that the US air defense program through the United States is part of the Global Ukraine support strategy. With the help of the Jumpstart program, which is based on the FMS mechanism (the program of sale of military equipment through the Pentagon), Norway has already transmitted to Ukraine the F-16 and small boats.
This financing is part of a broader military support program for Ukraine for 2025, in which Norway will allocate 22.5 billion crowns (almost $ 2 billion). The funds will go to various support measures, including Ukraine's defense needs.
