New Ambitions of South Korea, the base on the moon and the mission to Mars

South Korea officially introduced a long -term space program that provides for the creation of the first Korean base on the moon by 2045. Also in the same year the country plans to carry out its first landing on Mars. This was reported by the Korean Aerospace Administration (KASA), which recently released the national program of development of the moon.

In addition to the construction of the base, KASA plans to develop its own planting technologies for a month, movement on its surface, as well as create systems of production and use of monthly resources, including water ice. Some elements of these developments are already tested - in particular, the prototypes of the months are tested in the abandoned mines of the Korean Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources. The space program is not only a month. The plans of the country include research on low Earth orbit, micro gravity, sun, and deep space. In parallel with the preparation for the monthly missions, KASA also works on the boarding module, which was first planned to be sent by 2032. However, according to the updated program, the launch of a new, advanced module will take place by 2040. In August 2022, South Korea took a significant step forward in the study of the moon - Danuri probe went out into the moon orbit and continues to collect unique scientific data. The data obtained by the apparatus helped to identify the features of the back of the moon, which remained out of the attention of other missions.

Against the background of the intensification of the cosmic programs of the leading countries, South Korea joins the international race for the development of the moon. The United States also plans to create monthly databases within the next ten years within the Artemis program. China intends to build its own base by 2035, and India declared plans to do so by 2047.

According to KASA, the final goal of South Korea is not only to master the moon, but also to land on Mars in 2045, opening a new stage in the history of Korean Space Science and Technologies.
