The Russian invaders first struck Kharkiv, using a new Dron Kamikadze Czernik series. These drones have two modifications and have been armed with a hostile army for some time.
As early as March 2024, it became known about the production of more than 7.5 thousand units of Drone "Church-1"-a lighter version. In April, more than 4 thousand Church-2, which is much more powerful and has a flight range up to 100 km.
Unlike many other models, Chernik-2 can complete the attack even in the conditions of radio electronic wrestling. Autonomy and powerful combat part make it a serious threat. However, experts note that despite the mass production, the first blow to Kharkiv using this drone happens only now. This is strange, given that some areas of the city are located only 25 km from the Russian border. The Ukrainian forces have already knocked down at least three Chiernik-2 drones. The most effective methods of protection remain: FPV-punks-interceptors, systems of ETB (radio electronic struggle).
Despite the presence of autopilot, without stable communication "Church" is often unable to accurately perform the combat task.
"Chernika" is often compared to another Russian drone - "Prayer", which is also made of inexpensive materials and has a similar combat.
