The star of "Squid Games" was sentenced to 8 months for an incident that happened 7 years ago

79-year-old Korean actor Oh Yeon-soo, known for his role as a gambling grandfather in the popular TV series The Squid Game, was sentenced to eight months in prison and two years of probation for an incident in 2017. The actor was charged with harassment because he touched and kissed a woman without permission.

The name of the victim remains unknown. Oh Yong-soo refused to plead guilty, but asked for forgiveness from the plaintiff.

In November 2022, the actor was accused of violently corrupting a woman without her consent. After trying to close the case, the woman demanded further investigation.

The plaintiff claimed that Oh Yeon-soo hugged her on the boardwalk and kissed her on the cheek while on tour in 2017. He denied the charges and pleaded not guilty.

In his closing arguments in court, he said: "It's terrible to see my life end in this situation at my age and I feel like my whole life is falling apart."

The court sentenced the actor to eight months in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered him to undergo a 40-hour sexual assault treatment program.

"The victim asked the defendant to forgive her for the fact that in the fall of 2017 he invited her to sit on the bed in his studio and hugged her on the embankment. He admitted this, but in court he tried to explain the situation, saying that he asked for forgiveness to appease her because he was afraid that it would harm his career," the judge said.

We will remind you that due to this lawsuit, the actor's career in South Korea has already ended, as his show was canceled and he is no longer invited to the movies. Just two years ago, Oh Yeon-soo became the first Korean actor to win a Golden Globe Award.
