From the first of January next year, terminals for non-cash payment must be available in all settlements of Ukraine, where the number of residents ranges from 5 to 25 thousand people. The relevant decision was adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine under number 894.
According to this decision, entrepreneurs are obliged to install terminals for accepting non-cash payments at all their points of sale by January 1, 2024. This includes paying for goods or services using electronic payment means, mobile payment applications or other payment devices.
The details of the regulation provide that from January 1, 2023, terminals must be installed in all retail outlets in settlements with a population of more than 25,000 people. From January 1, 2024, this requirement applies to cities and villages with a population of 5,000 to 25,000. From January 1, 2025, such mandatory equipment will affect traders in settlements with fewer than five thousand people. From January 1, 2026, terminals must also be installed at individual entrepreneurs who pay the single tax of the first group, sellers using vending machines, as well as those who are engaged in street or takeaway trade, or sell agricultural products grown by themselves.
It is worth noting that from January 2024 in Ukraine, it is planned to increase the minimum wage, as well as the indexation of pension payments. Indexation involves for the first time the use of special pension points, which should make the system of pension payments fairer. This refers to the large difference in pensions between those who retired before 2010 and those who became pensioners in the last few years.
