The American MCR Hotels developer has announced the purchase of the BT Tower London Radio Television Tower for £ 275 million ($ 347 million).
According to the British Telecommunications Group BT, MCR plans to transform one of London's most famous symbols into a hotel.
The tower, which is about 190 meters, was built in 1965 in the Fitsrovia area, several quarters from the British Museum. She served to transmit television and radio signals from London to other UK areas, but stopped working more than 10 years ago after the transition to new broadcasting formats. On the 34th floor of the tower is a popular, rotating restaurant.
MCR owns and operates 150 real estate, including Twa Hotel Hotel in the former flight management center at John Kennedy Airport in New York.
