Honolulu, Hawaii, has been recognized as the safest city in the world, according to a new study by Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection, which assessed the safety of cities to visit in 2024. The rating was based on the overall level of security, the level of crime and the threat of natural disasters.
Honolulu, with its exotic snow-white beaches and dense forests, attracts travelers from all over the world. The city ranks first due to its low crime rate. Experts note that strict gun laws and a high standard of living contribute to safety, but the main threat to tourists remains the ocean and its inhabitants, such as fish.
Despite the high level of security, experts advise tourists to be vigilant and not take risks alone in unknown places or swim in the ocean at night. The ranking also singled out Montreal as the second safest, offering tourists vibrant nightlife, restaurants and beaches, as well as a high level of safety for solo travelers.
Montreal can have some petty theft, but is generally considered a safe city. The third place in the ranking is occupied by the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, where security is based on the absence of an army and the fact that police officers patrol the streets without weapons.
Iceland, despite not having an army, faces natural disaster risks, including seismic and volcanic activity. The ranking also includes other safe cities to travel to in 2024, such as Sydney, Amsterdam, Dubai, Copenhagen, London, Seoul and Venice.
