UN: The number of victims among civilians in Ukraine has increased dramatically

In June 2025, 232 civilians were killed in Ukraine, which became the highest monthly indicator since the beginning of a full -scale invasion of Russia. This was reported by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine.

The vast majority of the victims - up to 98% - were in the territories controlled by the Government of Ukraine. Homaterial shelling was recorded in 17 out of 27 regions of the country, including the capital.

The UN notes that the number of missile and drone attacks last month was ten times higher than in June 2024. Almost no region of Ukraine was able to avoid hostile blows. Civilians died or were injured in at least 16 regions. In total, 6754 civilians were injured in the first half of 2025, which is 54% more than in the same period of the previous year. From the beginning of the invasion in 2022, the UN monitoring mission has recorded at least 13,580 dead among civilians, of which 716 were children. More than 34,000 people, including more than two thousand children, were injured.

According to the UN, a sharp increase in the number of victims is associated with the active use of Russia's powerful long -range missiles and drones. Strokes are often directed to urban areas with high population density. Particularly deadly was the widespread use of low range drones near the front line.
