The last man in the abandoned village: the story of the "loneliest man on Earth"

An incredible historical phenomenon appeared in the world - 93-year-old Argentine Pablo Novak was recognized as "the loneliest person in the world." All because the man is the only resident of the former tourist center destroyed by the flood.

Pablo was born and raised in the former village of Epecuena, now a terrifying ghost town about 300 miles southwest of Buenos Aires, Argentina. For 25 years, this place was a popular tourist destination with a population of about 5,000 people. However, after the flood, it lost its popularity and disappeared from the maps.

In 2009, due to dry weather conditions, the water level in the village was falling, and it was then that the 90-year-old Pablo returned to his native place to take care of his cattle and settled in an abandoned house with a garden.

The way of life of a man in a ghost village is very modest. His house is filled with rusty chairs, stacks of newspapers and no electricity. But even more vulnerable - Pablo is the only one who has returned to Epequena. His own family chose another place to live, not even paying attention to this ghost village.

Pablo himself said: “I came back here to be with my cattle. And I don't want to go anywhere anymore. I was completely alone. It will remain so. All day, every day."

Despite this incredible loneliness, it seems as if Pablo is not worried about it. He walks around the village with his dog every day, enjoying life and hoping that someone will pay attention to him. He even spent time hunting down a rare 20-year-old bottle of whiskey, which he eventually drank himself. As for good wines, unfortunately, they are a thing of the past.

This story about Pablo Novak reminds us that life can hide incredible stories and destinies that can only remain noticed in certain corners of the world.
