Parliament has approved amend

The Verkhovna Rada approved amendments to the law on the direction of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to other states during martial law, taking into account the proposals of the President. 267 people's deputies voted in favor of the decision.

The document was approved by Parliament on January 15, but on January 30, the President returned him with his remarks. The main changes concerned the parts of Articles 2 and 7, which, according to the Head of State, cannot be the subject of regulation of this Law. The President noted that the issues of the use of the Armed Forces units are already regulated by the Constitution and other normative legal acts.

In particular, the preliminary version of the law stated that units could go abroad at the decision of the President, except in cases of use of troops in the territory of the aggressor country to repel the attack.

The Presidential proposals provide for the elimination of these rules from the law in order to avoid legal contradictions and comply with the requirements of the Constitution.

The adoption of the document coordinates the legislative provisions concerning the international deployment of Ukrainian units. This allows you to make more prompt decisions on the possible participation of the Armed Forces in joint missions or cooperation with international partners.

Experts say that such changes may be important in the context of military cooperation with the Union countries and the participation of the Ukrainian military in exercises, peacekeeping operations or other strategic initiatives.
