During the elections in Pakistan, the Internet and mobile communications were suspended

In connection with the holding of national elections, the government of Pakistan has temporarily suspended the operation of mobile communications and the Internet throughout the country. This action was taken as part of precautionary measures in connection with the growing threat of terrorist attacks.

An official notification from Pakistan's Ministry of Interior underscores the need for these measures, especially after recent incidents of terrorism in the country.

The election comes nearly two years after previous Prime Minister Imran Khan was removed from power in a no-confidence vote. It is worth noting that Khan was arrested last year on corruption charges and was banned from running in the elections.

The current election, in which Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is participating, is considered by many analysts to be the least democratic in Pakistan.

Although mobile communications and the Internet have been temporarily disabled, Wi-Fi networks continue to work. Some voters expressed surprise at the move, saying it made it harder for them to vote freely.
