South Korea is ready to accept North Korean prisoners from Ukraine

The South Korea government has been readiness to consult with Ukraine on the transfer of two North Korean soldiers who were captured by the Ukrainian military. This was stated on January 14 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea, reports Yonhap .

The Foreign Ministry spokesman explained that according to the Constitution of South Korea, which defines the entire Korean peninsula in its territory, all inhabitants of the peninsula are considered citizens of South Korea. Therefore, the government is ready to initiate negotiations with Ukraine if the North Korean military has a desire to move to South Korea.

In the video, published earlier, one of the captured soldiers declared his intention to stay in Ukraine. However, according to Lee Zhea Wong, none of the captives officially expressed his desire to move to South Korea.

South Korean intelligence confirmed the fact of capture of the two North Koreans and declared its intention to work closely with Ukraine to exchange appropriate information. Both parties now keep in touch to resolve issues related to this incident.
