Plastic surgery for pets, including the trend on Mickey Mauss, gained popularity in China. In this new phenomenon, which becomes especially fashionable, the shape of the ears of cats and dogs changes, making them more round in the style of the hero of the famous cartoon Disney. Some clinics in the province of Chunzin even offer stocks that allow owners to pay the procedure for several animals at a time.
The cost of one operation is approximately 300 yuan and includes two parts. First, anesthesia is introduced, and the surgeon removes some of the tissues of the ears, which takes about half an hour. During the second phase, the doctor gives the ears the desired shape, the process lasts from 20 to 60 days and requires several visits to the clinic.
However, professional veterinarians and defenders of animals in China express a decisive protest against such practice, emphasizing that plastic surgery leads to pain and stress for animals. By changing the natural shape of the ears, animals can begin to comb them, causing additional suffering.
Although the law does not prohibit plastic operations for pets, large clinics in large cities refuse to provide such services. Such operations are most often offered in nursery.
