The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) have exposed officials of the Logistics Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in embezzlement of state funds. According to the investigation, from 2022 to 2023, they concluded contracts for the purchase of aviation spare parts for combat aircraft, causing losses to the budget of Ukraine in the amount of 27.3 million hryvnias .
Officials of the Ministry of Defense purchased aviation spare parts from a controlled intermediary company , which offered products at unreasonably high prices . The operation was organized in such a way as to create the appearance of competition: several affiliated companies, including those with foreign registration .
Such a scheme ensured the victory of the company, which was considered "necessary", and concluded contracts for the inflated cost of spare parts.
The obtained "surplus profit" was transferred to the shadows through a network of controlled companies. According to the investigation, these funds were not used as intended, which caused significant losses to the state.
In connection with these events, the law enforcement officers decide on the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspects who face up to six years in prison for embezzlement of state funds.
