On May 10, French President Emmanuel Macron arrived on a visit to Kiev as part of the so -called "determined coalition", which also includes Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom. Upon his arrival, he made a speech in which he voiced three key messages concerning Ukraine's future.
Macron emphasized that the main condition of just and long peace is a complete and unconditional ceasefire. According to him, it is a European initiative agreed with the United States. Ukraine has already supported the proposal for a 30-day truce on March 11, while Russia is still delaying.
"We welcome the call of President Trump to take this step. Our unity is our power," the French leader emphasized.
The second message concerns the protection of Ukraine's sovereignty. Macron noted that any peace agreement should provide for security guarantees for the Ukrainian state. These issues, according to him, were discussed at meetings in Paris, London and Kiev.
"We are moving forward together," he said.
The third paragraph was the vision of the future of Ukraine. Macron stressed that the struggle of Ukrainians is not only a struggle for territorial integrity, but also for European values.
"Free, strong, prosperous and European Ukraine is our horizon. History is watching us," the President of France has completed his speech.
