President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed a new judge of the Constitutional Court. On Friday, June 27, the head of state appointed the corresponding decree to the position of Alexander Vodannikov. The information was published on the President's official website.
The document states that Vodyannikov will hold a position under a presidential quota. Thus, the number of vacancies in the Constitutional Court for this quota decreased to two.
Currently, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine has been working without a quorum for five months, which makes it impossible to make decisions on key issues, including the election of the chairman of the court. In addition to presidential vacancies, two positions under the quota of the Verkhovna Rada and the Congress of Judges remain unfilled.
The appointment of Vodannikov may partially unlock the work of the court, but the full functioning is required to fill the rest of the vacancies.
